One for all and all for none

Stupid voting. I have to confess, I've never been a big fan. Though I have been able to vote for several years, yesterday was the first time I ever actually went out and voted for something other than the presidential election. The reason I went? The gay marriage issue is up in Colorado and I don't think I could have lived with myself if I didn't ( Read more... )

i posted this to another friend's blog earlier...

"i almost didn't vote, though, i was so disenchanted after november 2004. but there was a contested gubernatorial race here, and two gay-marriage-related issues as well.

"speaking of which, can anyone explain to me why, just to be outrageously non-P.C., so much of the country has something stuck up their butt over the issue of gay marriage?? even when they call it civil union, and explicitly say "this is NOT marriage, we just want spousal benefits, give us an f-ing break," it still gets trashed in red states such as CO.

"have any of these people actually MET a gay couple? do they have NO concept how normal they are (vis-a-vis the rest of us nutballs), how they're just--gasp--PEOPLE?

I voted the exact same way that you did and I'm also not happy with the results (how could I be?). I honestly think it's way, way cool that Canada has legal gay marriage. Then again, you get people who are like, "I wish gays and lesbians would just shut up about it already," and I just wanna say, "Screw you, at least it's legal here. Go try and tell them in the US to shut up, you're going to get a very, very angry response."

Anyway...
