Total frustration!
I've been working on a making Rent bases. I capped the whole movie with a total of over 5,000 captures in all with the intent of sharing the captures because when I was looking for them, I couldn't find them. But once I had them, I found them in the exact LJ community where I was planning to post. So I decided to just make bases. This meant sorting through all 5k captures and figuring out which are suitable, how to cut it, how to clean it up so it's usable, etc. I've been working on this for days. and was over halfway through the movie when I realized today that I've been saving in the wrong format.
The captures were originally in .bmp because that's what PowerDVD uses. I did a batch process to change them all to .png, my desired format, but there was some issue with them which wouldn't let me resize them so I again processed them to .jpg, intending to save them as .pngs when I'd done the work on them. I forgot this step and now they are all ruined. Ok, that's a little overly dramatic but many of them are simply because of the distortion which can with .jpgs and I really don't feel like going back through the 800 or so images to see which are ok and which aren't.
By the way, did I mention this was the second time I capped the movie? The first time the batch processing screwed up the order of the scenes and it took less time to just capture it all over again than to go through and renumber 5,000 images.
So now, if I decide to go through the effort, I will go through and capture it for the third time because I foolishly deleted the zip file which had all the captures stored. Besides, there was that issue with the .pngs.
I could just use the captures I found in the community but for some reason I really want these to be all mine.
The silver lining is that I did learn quite a lot about taking a so-so image and making it look bright and shiny just through trial and error. So this time around is bound to be the charm.
