I don't remember ever getting to watch R rated movies in school... I remember teachers being concerned even about PG ones for fear of offending someone's parents. What do you think?
Yeah, 8th grade is a little early for movies of this kind. Gay or straight.
Not that kids have never been able to see R movies, or that parents let them. But its too early for any unvarnished depiction of sexuality in this manner, outside a medical/clinical setting.
They wouldn't let us watch Weird Science (which had been out a couple years already) in 8th grade, and that was PG-13!
I agree with you 100%... I read some comment in that article that the sub said something like 'what happens in this classroom stays in this classroom'. I can't even imagine. Now of course the parents went overboard by saying she needed psychological help after seeing that movie. I personally didn't think the movie was graphic at all (I was hoping for more!), but there's no way I would let my 8th grader watch it. I remember Weird Science really turning me on at that age when I first saw it. I didn't even know what was happening to me! :)
