I kind of hate comments like that, they get made such a lot and reduce everything to an either/or dichotomy which is always stupidly reductivist. I dunno, they've got a point in one sense but a lot of people I know who use reusable bags etc are the same people who are more environmentally conscious in other ways too.

I suppose I often find that sort of thing annoying because people always say to me stuff like, why are you vegan when there's so many bad things going on with people - being concerned with animals isn't going to improve the world. For me it's the same reductive argument: it implies you either have to do one thing or the other, when a lot of people do both!
