I don't understand why the LL Walmart has 24 lanes and only 8 open at 515 two weeks before christmas. If I wasn't craving lasana, I'd walk out.

If I had to guess, I'd say they probably don't have the people to man 24 lanes at any time, except maybe on Black Friday. I take it the lines would have justified opening additional registers?

I've noticed most Wal-Marts have just enough registers open so people have to be third or fourth in line. I'm not sure of the commercial psychology of the whole thing, but the rule almost never fails: when you go to a register, you will be the third or fourth in line.
