*sigh* I have to agree with you. *hugs* I've had several emails in the past few days that were "inspiring, though difficult to watch" and I could only half agree. They were certainly difficult to watch (so, I didn't). I have no doubt that some of the images in these emails were worse than others (many taken that day were beyond my ability to handle then and it hasn't changed since). I don't need to see those pictures to remember and I wasn't in NYC or DC that day. I realize it's been ten years but that isn't long enough for me to have forgotten.
I don't mean this to be as selfish as I know it will sound but, honestly, I'm going to find this a long weekend, I think.
No, it doesn't sound selfish at all. I mean, we ALL have our own memories and feelings about that day and wherever you were doesn't diminish your experience.
I think it's just that I generally think of .gifs as moments that people want to see on continuous repeat. These aren't those sort of moments. Or if you need to watch them over and over, do it in a way that doesn't force others to do so unwillingly or unwittingly.
I agree. I have no problem remembering everything I saw that morning in crystal-clear details and will never forget it and don't need to be reminded of it by things like that.
I'm not on tumblr or anything like that but I'm going to be avoiding CNN until probably at least Tuesday

I saw an article that said, "Close your eyes and remember that day." I don't need a .gif to see those images over and over in my head. I understand people wanting to do something to acknowledge the day, but pick a different image.
I haven't seen anything like that yet, but then I only follow a very few specific people on Tumblr. Agreed that showcasing the dying/dead is most definitely not the way to go.
I totally agree with you and just wanted to let you know there are a couple of tumblr extensions that may help - tumblr savior will block specific tags and the h8 button extension will hide a post once you click so even if people reblog it you won't see it.

Just, why would you want to .gif that? It's morbid.
