1) Calvin from A Wrinkle in Time. The great protector and true friend, who grows up to be much more than a friend. *sigh*
2) Dickon from The Secret Garden. He was so clever and so very different from everything I'd ever known in life.
3) Eowyn from The Lord of the Rings. Strong, competent, kass kicking women are the best, and the whole willingness to sacrifice everything is very appealing.
4) Miles Vorkosigan from the Vorkosigan books. Super intelligent and hyper active - in real life I'd probably strangle him, but it'd be a hell of a ride getting there and gods, that energy...
5) Archie Goodwin from the Nero Wolfe novles. I've always had a thing for competency and skill, and Archie has both in spades along with enough pure charm to win just about every heart out there and scads and scads of style.
