Prep n purge day

Dec 17, 2024 08:15

Tomorrow is the big alien probe day so today is the dreaded prep. I've not done this before so hopefully it isn't too terrible. I get neurotic about food so not being able to eat anything solid will probably bother me more than anything. I brought two small containers of sugar free lemon-lime jello and a bottle of my favorite iced green tea that ( Read more... )

Courage! I found the chicken broth really helped. Keep the prep stuff as cold as you can, and drink it through a straw.

Thanks! I heard about keeping it cold (though the label says to keep at room temp so I'll put it in the fridge when I get home at 11ish) I also saw that doing lemon drop candy before doing it helps and I happen to have some!

I got fancy schmancy nice clear chicken broth from the prepped food from FreshDirect so that should do me well for "lunch" lol

Maybe it’s a slightly different prep. They recommended mine be cold. I found the straw super helpful because it helped me resist the temptation to gag.

Many sites recommend that suprep be refrigerated so I'll do it. It probably mentions room temp on the box for long term storage.

Did you do miralax or dulcolax? My sister said her husband was told to get that but it's not on my instructions. I don't think I need it, though, since I'm sure the suprep will clear me out fine.

Thanks! The adult diapers that I got to avoid any surprises are the prettiest shade of pink. Heh.

The prep sucks. The procedure itself is basically a nice nap followed by results.

I'm just crossing my fingers for no vomiting. The other part I'm entirely too familiar with since my system can randomly get annoyed with me if I eat something too sweet or have coffee that's too acidic in the morning.

You'll be fine.

I think I was prescribed simethicone for gas and just the clearing out drink last time. Before that they always included Ducolax which gave me cramps. The drink itself was fine as along as it was very cold. Sip slowly and steadily rather than trying to chug it. I recall it was half the evening before and half about six hours before the appointment. They time it so you are completely empty well before you arrive.

Hope they don't find anything interesting and tell you to stay away for five years.

Yeah, they had me buy some GasX. Since I have to be there by 6:15am, I just did my first dose and am drinking my first of two full glasses of water for the chaser. I didn't chug it, per se, but I did drink it through a straw in doses, getting the ol' burps out in between and it took me under 10 minutes. Yeah, it tastes bleh but I've tasted worse. It also helped to do a lemon drop hard candy right before.

The doc's office said to do the second one at midnight and stop drinking anything by 1am but since I know that it's going to be rough to get all that extra water in me in less than an hour, I'll do 11:30pm instead.

So how long before the festivities start? I already had a preview since my stomach decided earlier today that it wanted to get a move on (it does this randomly, hence why I definitely didn't need to do any dulcolax in the days before like my BIL did)
