Hail the King and Queen of Darkness ...

 Hey everyone...

This entry is something I have been working on for a long, long, looong time now, and it consists of my thoughts about Damon and Elena from the Vampire Diaries both in the books and in the show. I hope you enjoy reading my thought even though it's very long.

Under the cut.

I just read this! Lovely post. I completely agree aout SE happening too quick. I hate couples that start out the show mainly because most of the time, I feel like I'm being force-fed that THIS is the couple to root for, THIS is true love, THIS is the "fated" couple. Eck, I don't care. I would rather see growth like with DE, where they aren't on good terms at first, and slowly learn to like each other.

I haven't read the books, so I can't comment on those, but it was nice reading your analysis anyway, and I LOVED the quotes. As for the TV show, I'm crossing my fingers for something good. =D

Great post!!

Hi Patricia. :)
Thank you for the reply, it's great to read reactions. And yeah, for the show I am crossing my fingers too. I have muuuch more quotes in my inbox in fanforum, lol :D

You know, D/E have the most amazing quotes in the books. SE have the most cheesy quotes. But yeah, if you decide to read the books, Damon is SO awesome :)

I was going to buy the books! But you know, sometimes when you read the book and watched the adpated TV/movie version, one or the other ends up sucking? So I didn't want my TV show experience to be ruined if I read the books. Something like refusing to read The Da Vinci Code so the movie stays good, but I read Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code movie got ruined anyway. Haha Or how I can't stand a lot of the Harry Potter movies because the books are so much better?

You think if I read the VD books the TV show will still be all right?

Oh I see what you mean. :)
And I love the Harry Potter movies :P Even if the books are loads bette,r but you know... It's unfair to expect a movie of 2 and a half hours can do one of these immense books justice. So I watch the movies and enjoy what I get from them ;)

For me, I dont think the books ruined the show for me.. I like the show a lot even after reading the books. :)

I was able to read this, finally. I agree with everything that you said. You've made excellent points why DE should be together. I'm trying to finish all the books, but everytime there's an interaction between SE, I just find myself skipping those parts. It really bores me, I just fast forward to any DE interaction. LOL.

The thing that people dont understand is, that Damon has accepted what he is and who he is and found a way to live with it. He IS what he is and he does not care whether you like it or not.

I love this part. I think this is what makes Damon my favorite character in the show. He's doesn't care whatever you think of him, which makes me like him more. But you still know that underneath all that tough exterior, is someone who also yearns to be loved and accepted as he is.

I am glad you finally got to read it ;)
And I understand what you mean about skipping parts of the books lol. I didnt skip the SE parts, but all the parts where Bonnie, Meredith and Matt are without Elena and Damon. They bore me to tears. I wish the secondary characters like Bonnie werent as annoying as she is. I hate her SO much that I could write an essay about it. Which I will. lol :P

DE interaction is definitely the best part of the books and a lot of people agree with us on this and also the author of the books, LJ Smith is a big fan of Damon he is her favorite character and it shows in the writing :D.

I love that about Damon too, that he doesnt care whether people like the way he is or not. He only cares about Elena and what she thinks. And he wants her to love him as he is, and I wis she did.

I wanted to read all of this at once from the moment I saw how long it is and how deeply thought through I know it'll be for me when I acknowledge the content. Well, and I just did finally. (there's nothing better for long entries reading like a dull Easter dinner with family that I don't entirely like or enjoy spending time with, I guess :P)

Okay, I must say I got spoilered a bit.. or a bit much by the part of the entry saying things about DE in books series but it doesn't bother me. Even though I have read till now the first two books and without the third one two more, I didn't do that focusing on details. It was more like a brief newspaper reading.. yeah, I know, I'm admitting to something horrible if I see myself as a big DE fans who.. I am. :D
I hadn't known anything about The Vampire Diaries book series until I saw a commercial introducing a new show and -having seen Ian Somerhalder- decided to give it a try even though I was already tired by then of the vampire fuzz around Edward/Bella. I'm more than glad and deadly happy I ( ... )

Wow... Long comment to my extremely long entry! :D
This is like candy ;)

Thank you very much for taking the time to read and review this :)
Yes, I admit that now we have had much much more Damon/Elena material to review/analyze after 16 episodes and with the new stills for episoded 17, 18 and 19, I cant wait for the season to end for me to write another article about D/E. They're so amazing.

I dont blame you for only briefly reading the VD books. I dont like the books, but only Damon and DE, other than that the books are very very cheesy I must admit. Stefan is SO much like Edward Cullen that it makes me SICK. Hate Edward Cullen and Edward/Bella, ugh... No offense IF you're a fan of Twilight :).

Like you said, real love has to begin somewhere and then evolve and -maybe- end sometimes too. It's only realistic and as painful as it is, it makes it so much more real and it affects the reader/viewer much much more when it is done that way instead of just throwing characters 'in love'.

D/E FTW indeed ;).

About Twilight:
I am very ashamed of admitting this, but I used to like Twilight just after reading the series, but then I realized how DUMB and LAME the whole thing was. It revolved around nothing more than a hormonal teenager lusting after a hot looking vampire.

And the characters are so one-dimensional and everything about it was soooo lame to me afterwards, lol :D

But to everything else you said: AMEN! :)

First of all, I would like to state that I read the first four books only because a good friend of mine was really into them and I had watched an epsiode of the show(children of the damned, I think) and it wasn't half bad. I picked up the 5th one a mnth ago out of sheer, moribd curiosity and I just dropped it after the first 100 pages.
and Stefan & Elena suddenly admitted their deep feelings for one another before any type of real bonding, which ruined them for me. And soon enough both of them were so deeply in love with each other that they were both convinced that they were meant to be together forever and always and that they will never leave each other and that they would rather die without the other.
Yes! I mean, they just saw each other around the place, Stefan iced out Elena, she pseudo-stalked him, and then they talked once and fell in love. total, complete crap. They could have actually had an interesting relationship if it wasn't for that, I guess. And Damon.
Despite all of that I continued reading and I am happy I did, ( ... )

Hi there! :D

First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment my entry. It means a lot to me. *hugs to you* :)

I have to admit, I think the books are VERY VERY cheesy, mostly becaue of Stefan/Elena. The only thing I love about the books is Damon and Elena, and I TOTALLY share this sentiment with you, that it completely ESCAPES me HOW the same author is the creator of Damon, Damon/Elena and also created the crap that is Stefan and Stefan/Elena, lol! xD

I agree with everything you said, and again thank you reading and for the compliments you gave me :D

I added you back ;)

This! I agree with everything you have stated above. Damon and Elena have such a passion to them and something that slowly builds and I love that
