Jaina'd given it an extra day before giving in the need to try and contact John again. This time, though, she went for voicemail, thinking it was a bit more personal. The problem was, she found herself trying to keep the disappointment out of her voice the second she heard the beep, and wasn't sure how successful she was at it.
"Hey, it's Jaina. I figured by now I could actually leave a voicemail. So I'm guessing the two years tops thing didn't work out quite the way we expected. That's okay, if things went according to plan, it wouldn't be us." Sigh. "I'm back from my trip home. It was two weeks there, two days here, and we caught the guy. I'm fine, just taking it easy for a couple days to make Ben stop making that worried face at me. I have to go back in probably a couple weeks or so to testify, which doesn't sound like fun at all. Anyway, I should probably wrap this up before your phone cuts me off. I miss you, I love you, get your ass back here, okay?"
And hopefully now she could go see Anakin without Issues. Maybe.
Talking to Rose at Fight Club had taken her mind off things for a while, but when Jaina got back to her room afterward, the first thing she did was check her phone and then all the worry came back.
As was becoming slight habit, she then scrapped the draft of the E-mail she'd started last night at the bar and started a new one.
It was morning on Wednesday when Jaina got back to her own room, because Adrian hadn't told her the feeder wasn't exactly close by, and he was talky and dawdled and got worse at both these things the more he had to drink. With her personal training schedule already shot to hell, she checked her phone again and started off another email.
Day two of vacation, and Jaina was already missing her sort-of boyfriend. She was also missing calling him her actual boyfriend, but that was another story.

It's the morning of our second day here, and so far things are going pretty well. I'm rooming with Rose, and since we just got here yesterday there wasn't much time to do everything I wanted. I did walk with sharks, though. These ones don't seem to be dangerous, I don't know why people are so scared of doing it. Their loss.
I know, I don't even have a lot to say besides that yet, but I wanted to touch base with you anyway and tell you that I am having fun, and admit that it does feel weird not to be working at all. I think without it there might be too much relaxation time and I might go crazy. Just so you know. Not saying anything I'm not supposed to say, but I really wish you were here. It's not quite the same without you.
Jaina hit the fitness center early on Wednesday, then came back to her room to shower and change, and while she was here, she might as well send off an E-mail. Not that she was addicted to doing so or anything.
Alien computer viruses, chasing down Ford, and dealing with dual-personality McKay had really eaten into John's reply time when it came to Jaina's emails. But after a chat with Ronon, John knew he only had an hour before the next connection with Earth, so he typed something up fast.

Okay, that is not where I expected you were going for break and I might be a little jealous. Both of the sharks and the swimsuit. Save me a few more beach shots.
I only wish a whole lot of luck to the guy you married, and pray he's not related to the family somehow. You do realize all you have to do if you want me on a trip is invite me along, right? As much as your stories are hilarious, it's not really my style to say no.
Oh, and you'll be glad to hear I've been talking to our old gym teacher. That guy led quite the life, and with luck, we'll be doing a lot of stuff together from now on. Not breakfast, though. He eats like a pig.
As soon as Jaina got the message, she was sending off a reply, not sure if he'd receive it right away but wanting to try.

I'm glad you got to meet up with our teacher. It must be interesting after all this time. I'll have to hear more when I see you again.
I wasn't sure how your leave worked, but now that I know, I'm wondering if I shouldn't drag you along for a return trip here. Rose and I were kind of talking about Vegas, so you might be getting word from me when I've thought of more than just "I want to go." (You don't want to know how much I've lost at blackjack, you just don't. I have to make up for it somehow.) Vacation's just not the same without you. I've tried it a couple times, and I definitely prefer it with you around, and possibly singing.
And please don't have breakfast with the gym teacher. That'd just be strange.
