Atlantis, Pegasus Galaxy [Tuesday Fandom-Time]

May 25, 2010 18:04

It had been all kinds of awkward to hear about the 'other' John living some math geek dream in Rod's version of Atlantis. That John probably held nude vigils in prayer to some archaeologist he held as a higher power or whatever crap any version of him who participated in Mensa would do for fun. John really didn't know how to explain away that sort of AU experience so he happily pretended Rod was an anomaly and laughed it off with his team.

Of course, when it came to the Fandom weird in his life, John had no difficulty laughing his ass off. Especially when he ended up in a meeting on Atlantis with the usual suspects - Weir, McKay, Teyla, Ronon - and Vala Mal Doran. Oh, and some other random members of SG-1, but who was he kidding? Vala was the interesting part. This was the woman who'd taught treasure hunting and some class on dating when he was sixteen. John laughed so hard that he was made to explain to Vala that she was partially responsible for his high school dating situation and the two of them got into a conversation about how exactly this had come to pass...along with the typical flirtation caused by either of them breathing in a room with something sentient.

"Yes, yes, Sheppard's dating life is so very interesting, but can we get back to the problem at hand, where say, people's lives might be at stake?"

Vala leaned her chair toward John, ignoring Rodney's interruption. "So what were you like in those days? Strapping, I'd bet. All that young, lean muscle..." Vala eyed him like a hungry lion who'd spotted a gazelle in the grass.

"Hey, I'd say I'm pretty strapping now," John pointed out, totally flexing his arm as he reached for an unnecessary pencil.

He was just asking for the interested smile and toss of Vala's dark hair that he got next. "I know of ways we could test tha--"

"Oh knock it off, you're as bad as that wannabe ascended priestess in faux-virginal white! Captain Kirk here is unaware that he flirts when he breathes, so be shocked and saddened that he's got a girlfriend and let us all move on to talk of my brilliant plan to save the galaxy." Rodney's clipped, annoyed tone had everyone's attention. Weir even snickered a little.

"Um, I do not!" With the looks his friends shot him in return he suddenly felt the need to clarify, "...have a girlfriend!"

"Please, don't kid yourself, Sheppard. Elizabeth confirmed my theory months ago." Rodney looked quite pleased with himself as he took a bite of Daedalus-brought jelly donut. There was something special about food from Earth.

John's eyes snapped to Elizabeth Weir with a glare, "And where do you get your intel?"

"Unlike Rodney," Elizabeth began, sending Rodney a special look all his own, "I'm not throwing anyone under the bus, John, but I've had it from multiple sources that your visits to Earth are anything but family-related. Um, not that we're monitoring you..."

"Or judging your choices," Teyla chimed in looking wholly apologetic if pristinely perfect as ever.

When John glanced over at the big silent guy in the meeting, Ronon just shrugged. "Helpful, buddy," John groused.

"So, then I'm guessing this is the Atlantean way of turning me down nicely?" Vala asked, having a gnaw on her pen cap as she looked the team over. "I have to say I prefer the methods of the Go'auld."

"This from the woman who married Barney Stinson," John muttered with a shake of his head, leaning back in the chair and letting Rodney get the meeting going again. Mitchell and Jackson looked almost sad that it was time to stop laughing at Atlantis' CO. Clearly everyone knew who was in charge.

[NFI, NFB. SG-1 10.3 gave me motivation to write again.]
