for those who know about these things, I'd appreciate your thoughts on my journal customisations, and if you have any good ideas, please tell me how to implement step by step, as I did this by much trial and error!
I noticed your LJ previous to this and it had a plain background, i rather liked it because it was easy to read and naviage. but if you do want a background image there are a few things. make the image darker or lighter and have contrasting text, it's a little dificult to see at the moment. also tghe image should really be fixed rather than scrolling... i dont know how you've designed this template i know how to edit S1 styles, you simply add background-attachment:fixed; to the page CSS. and finally you should think about making the image able to work when repeated, for example my monitor has a high resolution and i can see the sun twice on it coz the image loops. you can also use CSS to stop this by putting background-repeat:no-repeat; but again it depends how your editing the style. Sorry i look at acessability on websites too much in my job :-S
fantastic, it's nice, elegant and easy to navigate. sometimes when it comes to design work simplicity is best... but i dont always take my own advice on that front as you can see from my design. the only other thing i'd suggest is to make the links either underlined or a slightly diferent colour just so they stand out a bit more from the normal text. Unfortunalty i cant help too much with S2 styles as i havent looked into it myself.
