hey seriously, I'm a self-proclaimed "expert" on this college admission stuff. I will help you do it all. I kinda like it in a perverse way.
I'm glad you're moving on. Hendley Market or where are you heading now? Maybe a break from retail overall is what you need. Dunno. I know the Opera House box office is hiring. I can get you in there.
Ya so let's make a date this week for school stuff. You'll need your tax return for last year.
thanks, dear! i'm free the afternoons/evenings of tuesday, wednesday, and thursday.
hendley market for a trial period-they actually offered me that. a non-commital few weeks, and if i like it, great, if i hate it, i can walk away. i'm waffling because i definitely want out of retail.
ok let's do tuesday afternoon. Then the next morn Ty and I and my ma are flying up to the panhandle for a thanksgiving. It will be a meeting of the families for the first time. 832-434-1997 phone.
I lost the damn car key. Ty's ma is sending the sub, but it might not get here by Tuesday. If it does not, do you know of anyone who would be willing to take ty and I out to houston anytime tuesday night? We'd be willing to fill up the tank fully and some money and dinner, whatever. I'm an idiot with keys and cards and other assorted identities.

I know I'm not the most prolific of commenters, but I figured this news merited an awkward comment. :} You made the best Chai freeze, and I thought I'd add my voice to the din of well-wishes for your next step(s)... and I thought I might suggest UTMB in your job hunt. (It may not be a place you're interested in working for, but it's definitely not retail!)
I see there are a million replies here and some offer help, but FYI- I happen to have put myself through GC on financial aid and when I started making too much money for that I have become the loan application queen. I have been in college for most of the past 7 years and had to fill out that damned fafsa every year. I applaud you for leaving work to pursue whatever it is that you are going to do... sometimes I feel like I am stuck in my job but I need it for health benefits, etc and at least I have school to keep my mind going.
So if you ever need any help with that sort of thing I would be glad to help out. UHCL is not a bad place at all. I have had some really great teachers and I love the campus- all of the spanish moss hanging from the trees... Yesterday it was misty and spooky. It can be really beautiful.
thanks, rox! i may need all the help i can get, who knows. and yeah, from what i've heard, uhcl sounds fine to me. at this point, having had my 'college experience'-w/all the dorm living, parties, and crap food entailed-all i want is to commute and learn.

and, you classify as the best kind of customer-the kind who had no part in my wanting to leave.
utmb is definitely an option, if they'll have me. i hear it's quite the fortress-a 'who you know, not what you know' deal.
