Every so often, I'm reminded of just why I'm really not that fond of magic at all. Is it part of the process? Does everyone who practices it regularly really get so damn stupid that they can't even stop and think for a second of what the widespread effects will be? Or, hell, maybe it's just overconfidence. It's a bad thing when they don't have the actual ability to back up the confidence. And when the consequences of their decision to screw around with things they can't actually control spill over onto other people.

Oh, I'm not defending them - us, as I can certainly admit to belonging in that group - just saying what I think happens. I think you have a far better view on things than most with that sort of power; everything has a price, and it's important to be careful what innocents have to pay for that power.
