"Somebody's frying bacon."

I woke up and I felt like quoting Wimsey. To quote you my absolute favourite parts of 'Busman's Honeymoon' would either spoil anyone who hasn't read it yet (mainly by quoting the ending) or involve me quoting the entire book, because that's how much I love it. You will therefore have to settle for near random selection, so here is the section that ( Read more... )

other people's words, wimsey, books

EXACTLY. XD

I believe it's this part of the scene that makes me laugh and go "aww" the most: Damn it, here is the Ruddle woman. Stop laughing and chuck me my dressing gown....

The whole scene is just adorable & hilarious. ♥

It's all just entirely too funny. My sides object, but my heart does not.

Oh Dorothy, you are so wonderful.

I knew I friended you for a reason! I have so much love for that whole scene. And book. It was the first Sayers novel I ever read, and holds a special place in my heart.

Hehe, good reason! I read 'Busman's Honeymoon' whenever I'm feeling depressed or stressed, it never fails to make me feel happier. It was the first one you read? Oh, lucky. It is the most wonderful book. ♥

I think in retrospect I should have started with Strong Poison, but hey, the library only had one book. I regret nothing.

I started with Strong Poison and the moment I fell in love? When Peter proposes in prison. I lol-ed.

They only had the one book, and it's not like their marriage comes as a surprise. Plus it must have been interesting to then read how they came to be in the place they are in BH. :D

That is, fortunately, in the section I read before putting it down for...whatever else I then picked up.

.....are you telling me that you still haven't finished reading Busman's Honeymoon?

Because if that is what you are saying, you are so very rubbish.

I love that scene. And I note that although Mrs Ruddle says she didn't know where to look, she does in fact look.
