An extremely eccentric History teacher at my mum's college died recently, and because he hadn't really got any friends or family and wasn't married, the college was given all his books. All 29,000 of them. They are now selling them in their library, you can get quality hardbacks for a £1, £1! I went along tonight, and ohhhh, it was like a mini Hay-

It really was divine. I felt some sort of duty to buy every single book, 'cause I'd make the perfect home for them.
You should really visit Hay-On-Wye though. It's a town in Wales that is made up purely of bookshops. Seriously, there's at least 20, and one is in the building of an old cinema. It is my heaven on Earth, and all the books are dirt cheap.

See, and now I need some history referencing icons, like an Eleanor of Aquitaine one saying "I pwns you all".
