Yeah, your cousin doesn't seem to have any perspective at all. "YOU NEED YOUR FAMILY THERE!" (or rather "u nd ur famly wif u!") and basically going bonkers.
I'm glad someone heard you and sent you to the scan, and that so far, things seem fine. And next time you find yourself in excruciating pain, whine and moan about it until you get a scan. My pal, the ER nurse, says that people who insist on having scans or whatever get a bit more attention, unlike people who yell for meds. (Not that you were acting like a morphine fiend, but still.)
I'm glad that, in spite of the idiocy you experienced, someone finally did the right thing. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you on the lab results.
And your cousin is a prat.
Finally, not to make it about me, but to let you know I've been through similar, when I had my second kidney stone attack, they were all ignoring me in the Emergency Room. I mean, it was Friday night, and the place was so full, I was on a table in the middle of the aisle. And since I wasn't spouting great gouts of blood, they felt free to pretty much ignore me. But I handle pain very well, also, and I was crying like a little girl and whimpering, "Why won't someone help me?" Finally, my wife, who knows my ability to withstand pain, was moved to ask anyone she could if her husband could please be attended to, because he's not putting it on.
Sad that the weenie crybabies engender such apathy among the medicos in general, so that, unless your leg is hanging by a sinew, they won't give you a second glance.
I'm always of two minds about the people doing the tests not telling you things ... I know they're not supposed to, but I'm pretty sure that someone who spends all their time looking at scans can probably read them as well as the people who ARE supposed to tell you ... and besides, if no one ELSE is telling anything, I'll take my information where I can get it.
I'm so happy you spoke up and got someone to finally take you seriously. I also had a hospital experience like that, where no one would listen for the longest time. So infuriating.
Glad you're home and things are probably fine.
And what would life be without insane family members to amuse us? Oy.
I'm glad things look okay, and that Alex was able to keep it together while you were fighting to get some decent care. Fingers crossed that further tests continue to look clear, and that your left ovary continues to truck along.
