There's a Royal wedding coming up, you might have heard, and this is going to impact on my life quite massively. For part of my job, seven days out of fourteen, i.e. week on/week off, is to read every single newspaper story about the Royal Family, and summarise the gist of the article, in three-four lines of my own words. Also I (and my opposite ( Read more... )

i have no plans yet.

I will be going away the week before Easter as it's my wedding anniversary, so i will be skinter than usual, so i guess I will have a lie in, go for a run and maybe watch it on TV...

I am honestly not fussed either way, i think if they have waited this long to get married it may be they wanted to be really sure which I am happy with just as I am happy for anyone getting married (i'm a romantic me)

i can't help thinking that if people stopped whinging about it all there wouldn't be half as much coverage. w&k certainly don't appear to be making a fuss / trying to whip up a frenzy.

i love a good wedding, me, and a free holiday even more. good luck to 'em, i say. (as a couple.) (obv i am not too keen on royalty, but that's not really the issue, is it.)

Oh Lord I feel sorry for you, having to wade through all that bullshit.

Does your work just get seen by the press office, or does it land on Herself's breakfast table?

How much editorial slant are you allowed to write into your summaries? Do you get to add in a little of your pithy take on life, or do they have to be completely dry?

As for the wedding itself, fwiw I don't particularly care. They seem decent enough people as far as I can tell, and I get some time off work. Fair enough.

The Queen apparently reads it over her cornflakes, but it has to be completely impartial. My predecessor was sacked for calling Paul Burrell a cockroach - which would have been fine if that was in the article, but it wasn't.
