The days of the week didn't use to make a difference to me until E started going to school. Every so often now, he will ask if it's Sunday, because Sundays he doesn't have to go to school ( Read more... )

hey, don't be so hard on yourself. it's always easier to say 'if only' but no one plans to make their life difficult.

one thing i know from my nephews though is that if you dread it, they are very good at picking up on it and then emotionally blackmailing you. i think it's key that you present a positive front, no matter how fake so they can't find some 'weak spot' and go for you.

it's a lot harder to do than to say it but don't feel 'bad' about waking him up to take him to school, but think 'wow! i'm waking him up so he can go and have fun and make new friends!' and hopefully your 'positive' attitude might prove infectious.

good luck! i think you're doing great!

thanks for that, i think sometimes we all need a rational voice to help sort out all the muddled thoughts that are going around in there!

I'm going to see how these few weeks go, and then decide. probably we'll just have to stick to it and not make any changes..

and the good news is that he's been tear free for 3 days when going to school! woohoo!

yay! glad to know that he's been tear free the past couple of days.

and yes, routine is definitely very important for kids. and i think we also need to bear in mind that kids to need time to adapt to change. it can be quite adorable when they react to something routine (such as taking a bath!) as the end of the world because for them, the here and now is all that matters. but once they get used to it, they become okay. and i think it's the same here with the whole school thing.

it's all a matter of getting used to it (which he seems to have done or is beginning to accept) and then when they start to develop logical thinking, things can only improve, until they turn 13! hee hee hee
