question 1: this happens because men and women are socialized to unconsciously react this way. socialization is controlled by the powerful/dominant group in society (which is almost always male-centric), therefore placing the favour of most things in the male department. case-in-point (i hope)- men are meant to multiply the human race, so sleeping with a lot of women would be a good thing. women, however, can only bear a child from one man at a time, so they are "meant" to be more monogamous and faithful to said one man. women are socialized to be respectable and "pure" blah blah blah. why doesn't society change this? we've tried (the three waves of the women's movement anyone?), but society is still controlled by men who enjoy their status
