Well, the Lantern Festival was really quite fun. My lantern wasn't that wonderful - I thought the colours it turned because of the charm on it were nice, but shape-wise there wasn't much I could do. As Professor McGongall said, my talents lie elsewhere, and I'm really allright with that. The winners' lanterns were wonderful - I was so glad to see that Ginny won third place! Dean's and Seamus' were good as well. Doing the procession with the lanterns was beautiful, all those different coloured lanterns lighting up the lake.
Then we had the mooncakes, and I got quite the odd message in mine. It seemed to be giving an answer to a test!! Of course, I would never trust such a thing, but it was very strange.
Then we spent some time with the Weasleys - it was really nice to see the whole family again. It was a bit awkward at first, as now I am not just Hermione, but Ron's girlfriend as well, and this was the first time we'd been around them since that change. Bill and Charlie were very nice about it, winking at me and slapping Ron on the back. I thought Mrs. Weasley might burst into tears, and she hugged me so tightly my ribs felt almost bruised! Mr. Weasley just smiled a lot. After the initial meeting things were back to normal, and it was just like being back at the Burrow with Harry and Ron and Ginny over the summer holidays. Fred and George had of course brought some jokes to show off - the fireworks that spelt out rude messages were a bit funny, I have to admit. But there was no way I was going to try their new Snow White apple candies! I've read that fairy tale, after all. I think that perhaps they got some third-years to try them because I saw a few sleeping near the lake, even with fireworks going off practically on top of them.
Finally it got to be time for the festivities to end, so we said goodbye to the Weasleys and goodnight to our fellow students. Then Harry, Ron and I sat by the lake by ourselves, drinking a last butterbeer and watching a few final fireworks go off for our extra hour. We talked a bit but mostly just enjoyed being in each others' company. After about a half an hour, Harry said he was tired and was going in to bed. So Ron and I got to spend a bit of time alone, which was rather nice too. *smiles* Overall, it was a lovely evening.
