I'm certain that some people had a good time at the Hallowe'en ball, but I was not one of them.
I decided to go as a dentist, which is what both of my parents do, and I thought it might be interesting for anyone who wasn't Muggleborn to see, and those who were would most likely find it amusing. Some people have been having fun speculating on what I was and making rude comments, but that's typical really. Ron was trying to be a knight chess piece, but he mostly looked like a horse. It would've been allright if he could move properly on his own, but he couldn't, so Harry and I ended up half-carrying him around all evening. Harry dressed up in his Quidditch robes and looked quite nice. Ginny had a lovely costume, and her charm work on it was brilliant! I'm sure if Professor Flitwick had seen he would've been so proud.
So we went to the ball itself. I spent most of it talking to various people and just watching the goings-on because Ron could barely move, so there was no way he and I could dance. Harry and I danced once - he is such a good friend. I was quite startled to see that Terry Boot had gone to dance with Ginny, and when Harry cut in on them I was relieved. But then things started going really wrong.
I looked over and saw Harry and Ron talking together... and looked back to where Ginny was dancing with Harry. I headed across the room just as Harry dragged Ron over to Ginny and the other Harry, and I heard Harry say it was Malfoy. I don't know why I didn't realise it sooner. Malfoy tried to convince us that he was the real Harry, but that was pointless on his part. Then Harry started to fight with him, and it was quite surreal to see TWO Harrys beating on one another.
Then it was broken up almost before it began, but Draco-as-Harry was much worse off. I leaned down, just to see if I could see any differences - I was wondering if he'd used polyjuice or some other method to look like Harry - when he made a rude comment and then spit blood in my face.
To say that I was appalled and disgusted would be an understatement. I think I was in shock for a moment, then Professor McGonagall accioed a towel and helped me clean my face. I think it was around that time that Ron attempted to hex Malfoy but because of his costume hexed himself instead.
I don't really remember what else happened. I know Professor McGonagall asked me to get Ron up to the hospital wing, and I guess that I did, but I don't remember that, or how I got back to Gryffindor. The next thing I knew I was in my own bed, and Ginny had just come in with Lavender and Parvati to see if I was okay. I suppose I am, it's just...
I don't know.
