I am going to be at work tomorrow and so am wishing
brissygirl a Happy Birthday a day earlier! I hope you have a wonderful day. Your present is under the cut and I hope you enjoy it!
"The One"
Charlie Weasley had been with his share of women over the years. He wasn't interested in settling down and raising a family. Having no ties had allowed for him to be free to travel and concentrate on his dangerous job of working with dragons. Allowing for himself to fall in love with one woman was out of the question for he loved his life just as it was-carefree and no one to answer to.
His mother still held out hope. She said that someday he'd find the one and that when he met her, he'd know instantly. Charlie thought his mom was barking.
And then he met Sally.
She was the most striking witch he had ever seen. The day she arrived to work at the dragon reserve, he hadn't been able to take his eyes off her. He introduced himself to her immediately and was rather taken aback at how she blew him off. According to her, she wasn't there to make friends. Sally, he quickly found out, only had one passion and that passion was dragons.
Sally didn't talk to him much over the next few days. The little she did say clued him in to the fact that dragons had become her life. He admired how much she knew about the magnificent creatures he had been fascinated with since he was a young boy. Charlie was also in awe of how she could hold her own against the dangerous and occasionally deadly creatures.
It was a few weeks later when he was assigned, along with Sally, to the dragon nursery. As they tended to newborns abandoned by their mothers, Charlie tried to engage her in conversation.
"When was it that you first were interested in dragons?"
"When my father was killed by one when I was nine." She replied matter-of-factly, never taking her eyes off the baby Horntail she held in her hands.
"So your father also worked with dragons?" Sally nodded. "And so that's why you're interested in them… because your father was also?"
She looked up at him, a frown on her beautiful face. "That's not really any of your business."
Charlie held his hands up. "Whoa there! I was just making conversation and wasn't trying to pry." Sally tutted and then turned her attention back to the baby Horntail as Charlie tried to think of something else to say. Her demeanor certainly wasn't making it easy for him. "So… what other hobbies besides dragons do you have?"
Sally took a deep breath as she placed the little dragon back into its cage. "I like to travel." She shrugged. "I'm also a big Quidditch fan and try to catch a match now and then."
He couldn't suppress a smile for all her interests were his interests too. There standing beside him was the woman of his dreams. It felt like a bolt of lightning had touched his very soul. An overpowering realization took hold of him as if he had always known.
Sally was… the one.
