Oh, man! I wish I hadn't waited three days to read this because it's excellent! I can see why it took you some time to write this considering the intricate pacing and plotting involved. You really do a wonderful job of maintaining the tension and suspense, especially in regard to Sherlock and Mycroft, though, naturally, I was (and still am) concerned about John. I think my favourite thing about this chapter is what it reveals about Sherlock and Mycroft's relationship. Although Mycroft initially assumes the worst, it doesn't take him long to realize that Sherlock is acting under duress and that Moriarty has found some weakness he hadn't known about. I love the description of Sherlock being the chink in Mycroft's armour as it's so true. It's sweet that Sherlock is surprised by everything Mycroft sacrifices for him. You describe the moment perfectly in this line:

Sherlock had never hated Mycroft more than he did in that moment when he realized that, with a single action; his brother had redeemed himself in Sherlock’s eyes.

So here's a not so hidden secret. I'm absolutely and irrevocably in love with Mycroft Holmes. No seriously, he's sooo much fun to write, you have no idea. It's like having a proverbial movie console and then you have the fated red button under the plastic hatch. For me, introducing Mycroft Holmes into a story (he's been in five of my stories so far) is like flipping open the hatch and smashing the bloody red button, and then sitting back and watching the chaos unfold. For me, he can never be a side-character. He gets his due, or he simply isn't there.

And the entire second part of this story owes it's plot-line to the introduction of Mycroft. Everything literally blew up in scale and size and plot, once he wriggled his way in.

And that's enough Mycroft praise for now. God I love your reviews, Grace. They make every second of frustration I felt while writing the story seem worth it.
