(I'm writing this while I read, so I hope you don't mind the rambling. It's kinda hard for me to write comments/reviews chapter-by-chapter if I've already read them once or more. And I definitely don't want to keep off commenting until you're finished. Sorry for any errors & mix 'n' match punctuations. I've gotten too used to german, le sigh ( ... )

I LOVE YOU! You have the uncanny knack of picking the exact parts which I love writing or agonise over, which makes all the effort I put into writing the story seem worth it. Your comment was the thing that made me smile for the first time in DAYS! (Not kidding I swear.) Writing this story seems to be the only bright spot in my life these days (that make be very escapist of me, but you are supposed to take your happiness where you get it). And it seems a lot more brighter due to readers like you. Thank you for being so awesome!

Sorry for the very late reply. Thanks a lot for the review. I love the Mycroft Sherlock dynamic in the series only second to the S/J pairing. This was my way of giving a nod to it. I'm glad you liked it. Posting the next part today.

I know that this is really late, but thanks a lot for such an amazing review. Reading comments like yours makes all the spare time spent on writing fic seem worth it. It's a rare treat to have an involved reader. I suck at regular updates but promise you that the story will not be abandoned. Thanks for your encouragement and patience.

Apologies for not reading and commenting sooner when it had been my intention to do so as soon as you posted this! Aaarrrggghhh! Well, better late than never, I guess. Anywaaaaaaay, there's so much about this chapter to love. To begin with, I love the way Lestrade's instincts tell him something is wrong and he has enough experience to know that he should keep digging. I also love the flashback with six-year-old Sherlock, who is worried that Mycroft will forget him if he only constructs a mind house, given all the new information Mycroft will gain at school. It's great that little Sherlock has such remarkable intelligence and, yet, has the kind of confusion and emotional reactions you would expect from a boy his age. And Mycroft's method of reassuring Sherlock is perfect:

Mycroft smiled and sat down on the sill, hoisting Sherlock onto his lap. “You were right, but only because you didn’t have all the necessary information to know that what you are afraid of couldn’t possibly happen. Now you need to listen carefully because what I’m ( ... )

First, a very belated happy birthday. Hope you had a great time.

Trying to write the next part was...difficult to say the least, but I'm posting it today. I didn't have a writer's block so much as an execution block. I knew what I wanted to happen, but making it sound believable was more difficult than I had bargained.

Thanks for the great comments. They help me write even when I'm at my lowest. And if you're on tumblr, I've started one fic-rec a day there (today's day 101). It has my favourite stories. I think you might like them.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! :-) I'm not on tumblr, but I'll try to check out yours when I can. I'm looking forward to seeing your recs and reading Chapter 11 of "Witness Protection".
