Yeah, I know. If I was looking for a full visual IDE I'd either run with Anjuta or Eclipse or possibly KDevelop if you're using KDE, but I haven't used any of those in *years*.

Out of interest, having never coded on Linux before, what is the standard set of libraries or whatever in order to develop desktop applications + how portable is it?

Over the last few months i've been learning C#, however it's high time I got back to C++, and perhaps learnt some java.

Eclipse + a raft of clutter; KDevelop occasionally if that's what you're into. C++ support's rather good.

Think the mono mob have the C#/CLI stack running on Linux these days if that's what you prefer but I've done nowt with it apart from admire LINQ from a distance.
