The white dress was hanging from the door of the wardrobe, plain and modest as she had never thought it would be. As the moon glimmered on it with fairy light, she saw that nothing of that was like the old Fleur had ever dreamed about.

Tomorrow at this time, I'll be in Bill's arms as his wife.

Her scarred, red-haired, brave, humble Bill. Whenever she had thought of her future husband in her younger years, she had imagined he would be a prince charming from her beloved France, fair-haired, pale-eyed, sportive and rich. The kind she had usually dated, although she also had had a thing for mysterious, dark-haired men.

The day her eyes met the spark in Bill's, all the blonde students at Beauxbatons looked like peasants. The day Bill kissed her, a Quidditch team collided in mid-air and fell in a mass of rags. The day Bill made love to her, all the money in the world became Leprechaun gold.

Tomorrow, I'll be wearing this dress at my wedding.

She had wanted her bridal garment to be simple. Mrs. Weasley had looked surprised and Ginny, forced to come along, suspicious, as she gave Madam Malkin the directions.

They had asked, over and over, if she was sure, if she wanted to add anything, if she wanted to check some magazines to see what the new trends in wedding dresses were. But it was of no use, she wanted it simple. Her ornaments would be her joy, the prospect of a life with the man she loved. She had learned the beauty of simplicity, and she liked it. She had learned so many things of late...

Tomorrow, I'll be able to call the Weasleys my family.

She had never been much favoured by mothers, she knew that.

For some, it was her beauty: her Veela aura overshadowed mothers, sisters and brothers' fiancées. Others, judging only on appearances, found her unworthy of their sons.

The Weasleys had been no different. The first time she and Bill had dined with his parents, although they had been polite, she had sensed Molly's disapproval. And after they had announced they were getting married within a year... The hostility had been so palpable that she considered eloping, many times.

It was different now. After they saw how little she cared about Bill's scarred face, how much she was willing to risk by living a life with somebody injured by a werewolf, they were sure. There were no more questions or suggestions of rushed decisions.

The Weasleys had seen past the Veela veneer; they'd accepted her and had grown as fond of her as she was of them. Everybody had learned that appearances could be misleading: the Delacours weren't snobs, the Weasleys weren't simple-minded, she herself was no dumb blonde. And she was also Bill's, from long ago.
