This is crazy. Sean's done quite a few mad, impulsive things in his life, but this... well, maybe it isn't quite the craziest, but it's definitely up there. Still, it has to be telling that, amidst the slight creeping panic that he's steadfastly pushing on through, he hasn't yet felt a shred of doubt about this being exactly the right thing to do

No, I'm not busy.
I hoist the axe back on to my shoulder. I don't really need to be chopping wood, but sometimes it just feels good to swing a blade into something.

Now, my experiences of marriage haven't ended particularly well. Hell, I can't think of many people I know that have managed it. I might've said Parker, if we were back home, but look how that's gone.
For all that, I'm not going to be disparaging. If Sean wants to try for the happy ending, good for him. And if that makes me a sap, well, that's why I'm not saying much of that out loud.
"Yeah, all right," I say. "How long've I got to throw the bachelor party?"
