The patio is gorgeous! Have you put cement between the stones? It looks like the bed is a mixture of stone and cement; is it? (I'm a garden designer, so I find this stuff interesting.)

Thanks! We've been working for what seems like a while on the patio. The stones are so big and heavy that they're hard to move even with two people. The stuff between the stones is something the stoneyard people called quarter minus. I don't know if that's a generic name or not. It's a mixture of different size stones ranging in size from small pebbles to fine grains. When it gets wet, it sort of acts like cement. I wet it down to cement right before I took the pictures. We used the same material under the stones for drainage and leveling. We wanted something more organic looking than cement but didn't want grass and moss growing between the stones, so we went for this. Let me know if you've got more questions!
