you've made a lot of good points there. What kind of a democracy is it when we only get to make a limited decision once every 4 years? Instead of all this money going on wars and security in the name of national interest, we'd instead have improvements in education, health, the welfare, etc. The downside is that the big guys aren't going to make as much money if we're spending funds on improving ourselves. I remember when my bro went to fight in Iraq and I was giving my opinions on it and people were saying it's unpatriotic to not support the troops and the war. but surely it's patriotic to want my government to spend its money on helping the people in this country that need it

its absurd,an unsustainable way to live. a fair distribution of wealth wont happen you are right. Not so long as we continue to live within a system that relies on persuing short term policies in order to win public votes such as the US and now Russias refusal to sign kyoto because it isnt economically profitable!!? it is naive to believe our votes make the slightest difference under dogmatic market led policies which hand all aspects of our basic rights over to private buisness, tax dodgers...they have no obligation to the welfare of the people living on that country. luckily in the UK we havent reached the most extreme forms of this...yet. There is no political freedom without economic freedom.fact. on a happier note, it was good to see u today mr pos x

i truely believe participtory development is a huge improvemnet within the field of development, like i said in the last section of the 'essay' i think it is the latest part in an evolutionary process. Of corse it is riddled with problems perfection is an impossible goal coz like you said yourself so many aspects are relative to who is incorporating them, whose ideal is being incorporated, but if participation is seen as an end in itself, involved throughout, from project design to project evaluation you perhaps have a better chance at pleasing more people than by forcing structural adjustment policies (IMF WB) that lack any real understanding of those that are truely affected by them

Sally you write so well. I wish I could be as accurate in articulating how I feel about things like this. Its been so fucking long since I was at uni and used to write about stuff I felt strongly about every day... jeez, its depressing.
