Zamboni Break #1: Post Ladies Long

Nov 03, 2007 14:24

Crazy up and down weekend for me, including not being able to stream anything before the ladies free, though I did watch the entire pairs short last night via fsvids. Unfortunately I missed the entire free and promptly got spoiled for the results!

Yesterday Mao winning again would have annoyed me, but I have to hand it to her. She's evolved out of the jumping kid stage and turned into a regular treat to watch. It's testament that she didn't even need the triple axel in the end, albeit because the new precise calling seems to be killing Emily and for poor, poor Laura Lepisto it was just too soon. Even for a newbie going from 1st to 7th has gotta hurt. Poor Emily too. Fourth two weeks in a row, and the second time only that high by luck. Unless she fixes her jumps quick she's done for. Though the real lucky girl tonight was Joannie Rouchette. I was pretty surprised when she held on to that bronze.
Seeing the pairs short it's good to see Kawaguchi and Smirnov improve, though apparently their free had a few problems. Congrats to S&S for kicking ass and D&D for becoming the first locks for the finale. And meanwhile, in Ice Dancing, looks like Virtue and Moir's takeover is going exactly as planned, aided, apparently, by Melissa and Denis making errors(not the time for it, guys!). Hope they pull up and win the silver.
