Farewell

Mar 26, 2012 00:02

This is the daughter(middle child) of Karin Johnsen, the user of this account. It took me a while to actually come up with idea of spreading this news via lj so I'm sorry that this is so late to those that actually care.

My mother has died.

The one you know as misskarin is no longer with us.

Her gastric bypass had everything to do with how ill she became; I'm sure many of you knew how hard of a time she was having as she updated her health on lj from time to time.

Sometime in December of 2011 she caught pneumonia. We had no idea she had it. She was beyond weak for no reason (which turned out to be low vitamin levels for vitamins she wasn't taking and wasn't normally low in anyway). I won't go into too many details as it's a bit of a horror story to hear that many bad things happening to her.

She was admitted to Swedish Edmonds on Christmas Eve and stayed in the ICU for over a month.

The pneumonia she contracted was killed within days but the damage done to her lungs was unspeakable. This condition is called Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. Google it if you so desire. A person of good health could actually recover from something like that, but my mother was never a lucky person. She was too malnourished to heal herself. The specialists did their best to give her a fighting chance but it was an uphill battle. In the end, her lungs just stopped working.

She put up one hell of a fight. For as someone as bad off as she was, she stuck around for longer than any of the doctors thought she would; just like the Karin we all have come to know, she was a fighter.

Hardest day of my life to let go of her. February 1st 2012 at 10:25am was her last day here.

She has been cremated into two urns--one is to go to Norway to be buried next to her mother. The other is to buried here in Seattle (haven't decided on a final resting place...might not be decided for quite some time).

To any skeptics, this is her online obituary:
Karin Johnsen Memorial Website

there is a guestbook on the memorial website so please post something if you can

That link expires sometime in May...I think. We might pay the extra to make it a permanent site

Find her on facebook. Just look up karin johnsen. Her profile picture is the same as the LJ userpic I have chosen for this entry. I have access to her facebook so I can accept any of your friend request. Feel free to post on her wall, share pictures.
