I finished the High Lord by Trudi Canavan. I promised
druid_va that I'd post about the ending of this trilogy. So I'm going to put the content of my post behind an lj-cut so that I don't spoil the end to anything for anyone who might be or will be reading it.
So I kind of liked the end to the book. I didn't want Akkarin to die but the way he died and the fact that now Sonea will have his baby makes it okay. Ideally I would have liked him to live but at least she'll have his kid. Otherwise, its like there isn't really anything for her to live for. I kind of cheated though and skimmed ahead so I was prepared for it to happen. So I guess overall I had mixed feeling about this ending but I can deal with it. It's not the greatest but its okay. What did you think about it? (to anyone who might be reading this...)
But overall I thought this book was good and I liked it better than the first two. I would recommend this series if you are into fantasy (you know magic and stuff).
I have to admit I wasn't as prompt about posting here because I got caught up in another book I was reading. I read Dark Moon Defender by Sharon Shinn this past week. I thought it was really good. And I have to throw this out here: Does anyone know how many books Sharon Shinn plans to write for the Twelve Houses series??? Because I got the distinct impression that there was going to be yet another book. There are too many issues left unsolved. I really want there to be more...
But anyways Dark Moon Defender is the third book of The Twelve Houses Series and tells the story of the King's Rider Justin who is sent to observe the comings, goings, and significant events of the Lumanen convent which is suspected of planning to overthrow the king. In doing so he finds himself entangled with one of the not-so-dedicated novices and they put themselves in a dangerous situation. I'll leave my description at that.
So of course, since I finished that I've started Winter Rose by Patricia A. McKillip. Which has been very good so far. I've read other books by her and I just love her use of language. It's very rich. I found some of her books hard to read but so far this one is not. We'll see how this one goes.
