Oh LJ. Remember when we used to be so close? When I would turn to you for literally almost anything? Rants, joyous announcements, pleas for advice, pleas for attention, and random observations ( Read more... )

(((()))))

I'm sorry to hear about all the hard stuff, especially your grandmother. And waiting for a test like that is hideous, especially when your doctor has such an awful bedside manner. I'm sending you all best thoughts for peace while you're waiting, and that you get some relief from the migraines one way or another.

If I'm being honest the most difficult thing about my grandmother's passing was just the way it highlighted how dysfunctional much of the family is. The good that came out of it, though, is that my sister and I have resolved to start fresh when we become the matriarchs of the family.

The doctor did have an unusual bedside manner, but I'm mostly grateful that he's taking a lady talking about headaches seriously. My last doctor was very lovely to talk to, but did nothing beyond having get bloodwork done.

Thanks for your good vibes, hon. I'm sure I'll get all this resolved sooner or later. If nothing else, my migraines cycles can last years so I might get several months in a row with no trouble soon.

Me, too. And I'm pretty sure I'll get it. I think if anything this can be taken as a sign that it's time to become a lot more serious about my health in general. My body is not going to do what I tell it to do, I gotta make it!

Yikes!

Ok, a family friend's mom had an aneurysm... which needed to be operated on... and she was fine about a week later. She had a week of feeling a bit dizzy and tired and then she was fine. And she waited six months to get around to operating on it.

I will say this... hopefully you do not have one because YIKES but if you do, it is better to discover it and deal with it than to ignore it...

My sister has migraines. All the time. Serious ones. They are hormonal. Especially when she puts on more weight than she should carry... so hopefully you will discover that it is something similar... not because I want your head to hurt but because that way it is something fixable with a bit of food aversion and such.

She's discovered that cutting out bananas helps... this is my random comment. Hi!

Oh god, I could never wait six months to get around to dealing with an aneurysm if I had it. I'm too high strung and morbid.

Honestly though, I think it's just an increasing sensitivity to eye strain (way too many hours on computers), hormones, and a food trigger that I've yet to identify. It's just that sometimes I can quite keep the crazy thoughts from coming up on me suddenly.

Have you been checked for a gluten intolerance/celiacs disease? I used to get migraines like crazy, but once I was diagnosed and cut the gluten out of my diet they went away!

Ugh, glutennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. I really, really, really never want to give up bread. I love bread. Argh. I haven't been checked, but honestly the migraines come and go with no real rhyme or reason. It's nearly impossible to tell what food trigger could be causing it since I doubt I go a day without some form of gluten.
