Stretching and sock fondling: that's the Xabi I remember...
Despite being surrounded by Leicester City supporters there was a lot of Xabi-adoring going on (I wore my white Liverpool Alonso away shirt and I heard the respect filled whispers of 'Oh Alonso' by passers by). The guy next to me exclaimed in awe every time Xabi executed a perfectly weighted arching pass... I may have sighed to myself a few times. Ronaldo however was booed every time he touched the ball which I thought was rather unfair. I was not terribly impressed by the Leicester supporters. They seemed to give up towards the end (their team was outclassed) and instead of supporting their team they decided to entertain themselves by doing Mexican Waves etc. My only comparison is being at Anfield and there we support Liverpool until the end, whether it is a friendly or not.
I couldn't help but notice Xabi sought out another ex-Red once the whistle blew (Konchesky was never really a Red, whereas Xabi will always be a Red).
I miss him wearing Red.
