you can't blame yourself over something you had absolutely no control over. you are being the best mother that you can be, that' what counts.
and as far as emily having a father figure goes...whether it's shaun or not, that role will be filled by the right person at some point in her life. just don't push who will fill that role. my mother would try and do that to me with her boyfriends and i still resent her for it. emily will know who that person will be. support it.
