So, I'm doing a play. Okay, so I've actually been assistant dircting this play for like three weeks now, but last night I really felt like I was helping with some sort of production. The actors are mostly mediocre, the play its self has both really high and relitivly low points, and the staging is atrocious, seeing as there is only actually a set ( Read more... )

Ironically, the Theatre that you perceive as "Real" is far less true to art than that which you are doing now. Theatre isn't about money, or broadway, or seeing your name in lights on a marquee. It's about you, and your friends, helping each other to express yourselves.
Hearing that this is happening somewhere brings warm feelings to my heart.
Giving up is when you stop feeling the feeling, and so you settle for something below what you long for, even if that something makes you rich and famous.
And what is Theatre anyway but makebelieve?
Why not keep at it?
You have my deepest respect and admirations, for this among so many other things.
Thank You.

Oh, gee wiz. Thanks.
For a moment there you reminded me of a song that I really like.

Say, its only a paper moon
Sailing over a cardboard sea
But it wouldn't be make-believe
If you believed in me
Yes, it's only a canvas sky
Hanging over a muslin tree
But it wouldn't be make-believe
If you believed in me

Without your love
It's a honky-tonk parade
Without your love
It's a melody played in a penny arcade
It's a Barnum and Bailey world
Just as phony as it can be
But it wouldn't be make-believe
If you believed in me

Plus, it would help if we had a stage...but oh well.

I was going to say something similar to riciblake, but I was going to say it in a less lyrical and heartfelt manner.

In that case I will just say "Yay for Techies!"
