so um. big news people. was NOT expecting this... but...
i'm engaged!!!!!!!!!
So we went paddleboating today, as I mentioned yesterday. I'd been wanting to, so I thought nothing of it. So we're at the park, we put on our lifejackets and got into the paddleboat and start paddling around. Matthew finds a spot looking toward an outer bank and we're just sitting there enjoying the view.
Then he looks at me and says "I have a very important question to ask you."
I totally, completely thought he was joking and that he was going to say "where do you want to eat dinner?" or something. Honest to god.
He pulled a little box out, and said "Will you marry me?" and then showed me the ring.
And I just gaped and said "oh my god" and then "of course!" and kissed him and he put the ring on me and I was just... stunned and happy and I cried a little and... wow. I was so not expecting that. :)
It's a beautiful ring. I'll post pictures soon. I'm just all grinny and glowy and gleeful. :)
oh, and the cute details: matthew's *mom* and the jewelry store lady helped him pick out the ring. he got it tuesday in the mail ('cause he bought it in illinois and could avoid sales tax). he called my daddy monday to let him know what was going on, and dad said he was happy for us, and something about our faith journey. what can i say, he's a pastor, he's looking out for my soul. :)
we had a lovely dinner at Blue, a funky-fun restaurant here in valpo. and we've been smiling at each other all day and going "wow... fiance... gotta get used to that" :)
and um... i'm thrilled! ecstatic! on cloud freaking 9! *sighs contentedly*
