WAY overdue essay on Claire.
Claire never drinks plain milk; it's always chocolate. She doodles mermaids (and that weird
helix symbol). She puts crackers in her sandwiches to make them crunch, and she's usually the first one to laugh at a joke. Unless it's something the Spirit says, because she seems to take everything her not!dad says literally...
She's an average student, but she admits she didn't do too well in Science.
She's playful, and won't think twice about slugging her friends. She also packs a mean left hook, and she's not afraid to stand up for herself or her friends. That said, be aware that Claire doesn't have a lot of control over her temper. When it flares, she'll say things before she really gives herself time to think. Whatever hateful things she says - she usually doesn't mean them, and will be truly sorry about it later.
Claire pauses for emphasis when she speaks. For instance, at one point, she's in the hospital, explaining a situation to her father. She tells him that he "Can't. Tell. Anyone." (I need to work on using that format more.)
Healing
Claire can spontaneously regenerate any tissue in her body, allowing her to recover from any injury within seconds, including death (although recovering from death takes a few minutes.) She also rarely shows visible signs of pain after being injured. In her own words, she "feel[s] pain; [she just gets] over it quickly." The only limitation of Claire's powers is that she can't heal if a foreign object is left in the injured area. She also has to "readjust" any injuries in order for them to heal correctly, such as realigning broken bones or holding skin closed before it can heal.
[Spoilers]In Season 2, it was disclosed that Claire can regenerate a body part if it"s removed. She tests this theory herself by cutting off her little toe. It regenerates in about a minute. I suspect this will manifest itself in camp. XD It's also discovered that her blood can cause other people to heal when administered intravenously.[/Spoilers]
Claire in camp
When Claire arrived at camp, she'd just left her family and best friend, and was under the impression she'd never see them again. Her father had taken drastic steps to guarantee her safety, and she was left with a fear of "them" finding her and taking her away to some lab to be experimented on or killed.
Claire's nowhere near as paranoid now as she was when she first arrived at camp, but she's still not going to just come up to people and tell them she can heal. She'll admit to her ability if she's caught healing, or if she meets someone with a power, or if she wants to prove her trustworthiness. If someone acts suspicious around her and starts asking questions she doesn't want to answer, she's going to lie through her teeth, or perhaps clam up, depending on the situation.
Claire is also frustrated and confused over why she has this particular power. It doesn't seem to help anyone except herself, and she's all for working with someone to see if there's a way to somehow use her blood or DNA to help other people. (See Spoilers, above.)
For all intents and purposes, Claire's just a normal teenage girl. She's friendly and fun, and she'll do her best to hide her ability when she can, but in a dangerous situation, she won't think twice about stepping into it, especially if someone else is in danger. (This is probably how most people in camp will discover her ability.) As far as making friends goes, she finds it easy to connect with people that have powers and/or abilities. Go figure~
