I have been trying to figure out how to work out these questions for a while now and im just not getting it so im hoping someone out here knows algebra and can help me

1) Are you trying to solve for x, or make a new equation? Does your book give the answer (x-3)(x-3)?
2) In the second, the two 4x's cancel each other out. If you move one to the other side, it becomes a positive and cancels out the negative. Doesn't matter whether you take it from before the equal sign or after.
You end up with x^2 = 25. Undo the square.
(Since there's no square root key on my laptop...)
Square root of x^2 = square root of 25.
The square root of 25 is 5; x multiplied by itself is 25, so x is 5.
