I've always had that problem with magazines, no matter how "around" they are. I think it might be the nature of the industry.

These are both independently owned "zines" which probably makes it worse. The owner of one told me that the other one was a good husband and wife team who wouldn't screw people over, and now they're both doing it. UGH! It makes me want to say really naughty words!

Well, if you DO make a trip out to Cali to kick some butt, let me know cuz I'm pretty sure we still have a standing lunch date at Moonshadows ;)

So did they go belly up? Wanna hear something even worse? If a company goes bankrupt, they can ask for payments back made up to like 90 days prior to bankruptcy!

A friend I used to work w/ was beating on our old company to pay him his royalties owed (he's an engineer & designed a lot of the products) & they paid him, went under, then demanded he return payment, and apparently are fully w/in their legal rights to do so!

They are both on "haitus". My hubby bought me a subscription to one that decided after sending me the first issue 3 years ago, that they would put another one out very shortly. Not so much. The dog eared was going strong when the subscription was entered, and they are both still around because it took me an hour to find an email that worked for them. I found the guy's resume online and mailed it there. They're both still saying they're doing the magazine, but in 2007, they said.. "we'll have another one out before the end of the year." PFFT. They are actively blogging, but ignoring email and letting business email lapse. Frickers!

Your friend got screwed big time. I don't know what else to do here, but I will be finding out. I'm pissed off.

Soon.

I know that some subscription services are after them, too. Sad.
