My entries have been uber-Catholic-y lately. I apologize to my non-Catholic readers, because this entry will be much in the same vein.

I think that the reason that the USCCB says that those who "knowingly and obstinately reject the defined doctrines of the Church" are not in full communion is because they have been praying & trying to discover what God's will is so that they can teach it to the all the laity. They believe that what they have come up with is either God's will or what is best for the church at that point in history (for example, Galileo). As far as I can tell, you haven't been obstinately rejecting the Church's teachings.
