What the fuck?

Okay, so I somehow got an A in Differential Equations.  In the math world, this is what we refer to as an unpossibility.  There were a possible 400 points to be earned in the class (we're on a ten point scale, so with 400 possible points, an A is somewhere between 360 and 400 points, a B is 320-359...).  I didn't really give a damn about it and was ( Read more... )

I'm going to miss you. The pine tree in my yard that you wanted to sleep with will probably miss you even more though. Love you too.

Thanks, Ashley. Talking to you the other night really improved my mood. I blame your prayers.

Maybe everyone did poorly on the tests so he weighted all grades and you did better than all the rest?

When did you say you are heading back this way?

Him weighing the test grades implies that he put effort into figuring out grades. I'm not convinced that he even looked at the tests to see who turned them in; I'm guessing he just figures I turned in the first project because I had good attendance. I really don't think he kept track of anything. Here's his attendance policy as quoted from the class's syllabus:

"Attendance is something I feel very strongly about. I really, really deplore preaching to an empty room. (I really do.) I can't make you come to class but I sorely resent it when you don't and I secretly look for nasty ways to punish you if you don't. (I really do.) Please be aware that students who do not attend class regularly don't get breaks when it comes to judgment calls on my part. On the other hand, students who come to class and show a genuine interest in the course can talk me into almost anything."

I really think I earned an A based entirely on attendance.

Also, I'll be back in Radford tomorrow (Friday) to get the rest of my stuff.

Haha! I remember you reading that syllabus to me at the beginning of the semester, I guess it pays to show up sometimes. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow :)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's more than just sometimes that it pays to show up to class. Do you hear that, Chris?

Congrats Mossie! I don't know how the fuck you got an "A".....but I sure know that I wouldn't complain! LOL! I would be doing good to grasp a small portion of something from a math class! Hope you have a great summer. What are you doing this summer?

Love ya,
Zukie
