the difference is it'a harder for large orginisatios to give money to a particuler mp to influence them in this country. IN others money equals power so relgouse groups can extend influnece over goverment easier

and the church doesn't have that much affect on the government or politics

For an effect, i'd point you at Sunday trading laws. That's one religious influence that's made town on a Saturday something to be avoided at all costs. And, yes, I am aware that its not considered religious any more, but it's now just "traditional" but that's a complete load and we all know it. Practically every one of our "traditions" is based on some religion somewhere (yes, I consider football to be a religion :)
