To combat boredom and the monotony of life, I've decided to shoot for a major milestone: I want to try to get at least 200 comments to this post. Do I have lofty goals? Yes. Have I gone mad? Probably. But I think we can do it! Or at least have fun trying... :) So, I'll leave the floor open, I'm game for any topic that strikes you. Deep

Topic #1: Interesting facts abut yourself.
Tell us something unique and exciting about yourself, that none of us knew before. Tell as many things as you'd like, but only one per post. ;)
As for me, on my second week living in Washington DC, back in 1997, I met and spoke to the President.

The only time I ever came close to breaking a bone when I was six. I had just learned to ride my bicycle. So being the cocky SOB that was even then, I tried showing off a bit and I crashed into my mailbox.

IMO, although I am NOT a Bush fan at all, I don't think the Federal govt. is to blame for the Katrina disaster. 1. It was a NATURAL disaster. 2. The media, for DAYS, did everything except say "there is a hurricane coming your way now, get the fuck out of New Orleans or you are going to die!" People need to accept a little more responsibility, and quit passing blame. Nothing will get accomplished that way.

It's stupid to lay blame, IMO. Natural disasters happen, and this is just proof that no matter how technologically advanced we are, we can't fight nature. It happened, unfortunately, but now everyone needs to work on putting the city back together, helping those in need, and taking precautions so that the same thing doesn't happen again.

Every year, these people are like "Oh, my house burned down for the 15th time! I've lost everything. But we WILL rebuild." Ummm, jackass, MOVE!!
But you're right, the local govt. should have handled this first. That mayor sure was quick to say "It's not for ME to handle."
