Summer Slump or Comeback LJ Post of the Year?

Sep 14, 2005 08:12

To combat boredom and the monotony of life, I've decided to shoot for a major milestone: I want to try to get at least 200 comments to this post. Do I have lofty goals? Yes. Have I gone mad? Probably. But I think we can do it! Or at least have fun trying... :) So, I'll leave the floor open, I'm game for any topic that strikes you. Deep ( Read more... )

Let the Fun Begin! power12252 September 14 2005, 15:19:43 UTC
WOO HOO!!!!! The game is on! 200 comments, here we come! Okay, as the self-designated sergent-at-arms of this post, I have come up with a bunch of topics. Some are serious, most are not. :P The way I figure it, if only my topics are responded to, then we need at least 19 responses to each to reach our goal. But of course, all are welcome to respond to N's original post or create your own topics. SO LET'S GET GOING FOLKS!!!!!

Topic #1: Interesting facts abut yourself.

Tell us something unique and exciting about yourself, that none of us knew before. Tell as many things as you'd like, but only one per post. ;)

As for me, on my second week living in Washington DC, back in 1997, I met and spoke to the President.

That's my Max! Way to take charge, big guy - can't wait to see all the random topics you've come up with! ;)

Interesting fact number 1: I can tie a cherry stem into a knot with my tongue. How am I still single?! Oh, wait, that's right... I have standards. :P

More interesting facts?

LOL! Well, I'm turned on. *crosses legs*

The only time I ever came close to breaking a bone when I was six. I had just learned to ride my bicycle. So being the cocky SOB that was even then, I tried showing off a bit and I crashed into my mailbox.

Most of us are pretty smart people around here. Let's discuss current events and debate issues. What do you think about what is going on in the world now?

IMO, although I am NOT a Bush fan at all, I don't think the Federal govt. is to blame for the Katrina disaster. 1. It was a NATURAL disaster. 2. The media, for DAYS, did everything except say "there is a hurricane coming your way now, get the fuck out of New Orleans or you are going to die!" People need to accept a little more responsibility, and quit passing blame. Nothing will get accomplished that way.

I'd like to speak seriously for a moment. missnickers September 14 2005, 15:49:11 UTC
What people don't seem to realize is that a vast majority of the problems they blame on Bush weren't even in his power to begin with. The majority of it had to be taken up on a local level before the federal level could do anything to begin with.

It's stupid to lay blame, IMO. Natural disasters happen, and this is just proof that no matter how technologically advanced we are, we can't fight nature. It happened, unfortunately, but now everyone needs to work on putting the city back together, helping those in need, and taking precautions so that the same thing doesn't happen again.

I agree 100%. Not to mention that the entire city is BELOW FREAKIN' SEA LEVEL!! It was only a matter of time before somethng like this happens. Umm hello, assumption of risk? It's like those people who live in the woods out in the Rockies, where it is almost a guarantee that every year there is going to be a forest fire.

Every year, these people are like "Oh, my house burned down for the 15th time! I've lost everything. But we WILL rebuild." Ummm, jackass, MOVE!!

But you're right, the local govt. should have handled this first. That mayor sure was quick to say "It's not for ME to handle."

Others mock me for this, but I really feel bad for all the animals. They're so helpless in the matter. Which is why I donated to the Humane Society.

In this thread, we insult the hell out of each other. Let's say as many mean things to teach other that we can think of. Say what you've been dying to say to someone. There are a lot of folks on N's friends list, so the possibilities and combinations are endless. By the end of this one, we should all be crying. :p

Okay, I'll start.

HEY CHRISTINA! YOU SUCK!!!
