This is a post that will help me keep track of this idea that has been brewing in my head for a number of years but is only just now coming to life! Huzzah. It's a superhero graphic novel idea (as if you didn't know) and I do hope to pursue it for real one day.

"You sleep with a lot of people Alex," Dahlia said, sighing and sitting on his bed, smoothing back his hair.
"I like it. That's all there really is to it. It's fun."
"But you have to want to stop one day. To be with someone and grow old with them."
"Is that what you want?"
Dahlia paused, thinking for a moment on the matter. Alex continued.
"No, I'm fine growing old with friends. Bring on the revolving door of sexual partners, I've never wanted anything more from any of them."
Dahlia sighed again and laid down beside him, tucking herself under the covers. Alex curled up around her, hugging her with one arm.
"I'm happy like this, as long as I can have it."

Dahlia: You remember those stories? The ones about superheroes saving the world? Keeping the peace?
Alex: If this is going where I think it is...
Dahlia: It is. And before you cut me off, just hear me out. What if that's what they were making us into? The new generation of peacekeepers?
Alex: Then they should have taken volunteers. I didn't sign up for this.
Dahlia: Clearly there was something wrong with that plan. Look, we're all a little stuck here, I just want to know if there's room for discussion on this. We can't exactly go on living our lives like before, can we?
Alex: That's what you say ( ... )

"Yeah, and we need something in there," Dahlia said, raising her eyebrow at at Julia.
"Always me. Always."
"The rest of us are flammable, Gem. Even 'Mega can't go in there long enough to get it."
"Right." Julia took a deep breath. "Take these," she said, pulling off the booty shorts and handing them to Dahlia, "I like them too much to let them burn."
Dahlia wordlessly took them, holding them carefully between her index finger and thumb without touching too much fabric.
"Good luck."
