It has been so long since I've updated. Sorry everyone school has been eating me alive these days. I'll try to work on updating much more frequently. I am still on the long road to becoming an elementary school teacher for those of you that are curious about what I've doing with my time. I finally have started taking some classes that are more

How hard was that garden to grow and tend? I would kill to have fresh basil without paying $3 a bunch at Shoprite.

The garden is very easy to maintain because we get a lot of indirect and direct light. I water them everynight or sometimes very early in the morning if I forget the night. When it gets warmer I'll likely end up doing it twice a day. Once a week we give it these liquid and tablety release feed that helps keep the potting soil rich. We have a medium sized pot for each group of veggie plants and a planter box for our tomatos. The basil is comming along the smallest and slowest out of all of the plants for some odd reason.
What kinda light does your apartment get? You could do it easily with the right light, some patience, and persistence. Even having a plant in the kitchen or a sign that reads "Feed your plants too" on your fridge can help.

Shallots are awesome. I'm going to try using them where I'd normally use red onions. I've been doing risotto a lot lately and a recipe involving red wine and mushrooms wouldn't be the same if I'd just used onions. Here's the recipe. I would advise adding two or three mid-sized pinches of salt during the later part, while you mix in the chicken broth. The romano adds some saltiness, but not quite enough ( ... )

The class was at a highschool out in the country down here for 3 hrs on a wednesday. I wish it were longer the master chef was so fun. You would definantly love taking a course like this one. The people in the class were great even when I shot a lemon across the room because I tried to make lemon juice too quickly. Everyone had a moment like that at least once during the class and these were people twice my age. Check Baltimore County or Catonsville community websites for listings.
My little girl is all grown up and engaged! How goes the wedding stuff? Any luck with venues?

i mostly have flowers growing right now, all kinds of pretty ones, like sunflowers and sweetpeas.
sounds like a fun class, i am most definitely gonna have to look around and see if there is anything going on. that would be a nice experience to add. :)
:D I am so excited, we have picked our date which will be May 5, 2007. As for venues it's going to be a garden wedding. Brady's parents have a large yard with beautiful huge old trees, and there is also a place in the back where we will have the reception and such. (It'll save alot of money, and I have always wanted to be married in a garden.)
It's also going to have a bit of indian flare to it, ya know lush fabrics with pretty colors and small strings of mirrors hung from the trees.

Yes you are saving a chunk of money on using a backyard and time too! But I've found through experience and bride LJ community watching that most of the cost often went towards the food/booze. Though some couples have completely dry weddings to save a ton of money.
Your wedding sounds like it will be very lovely, unique, and truly intrigueing. You picked a great month to have a garden wedding too! If I had mine outside everyone would have roasted If ya need any help or to just chat weddingy stuff you know where to find me!
