It's late. Theodore is asleep, the Duke is elsewhere, and Gran is doing something on the roof despite my warnings that she'll fall and break all of her bones into brittle bitty bits. I was about to go to bed when Kray came with a letter from the Wizengamot; he doesn't usually bring letters so late, so I can only assume the wind must have blown ( Read more... )

That's... oh. I don't really know what to say to you.

You were not around when I left this morning, but my answer to your question is yes, of course I will give you lessons in hexing. It would be my pleasure.

If you are worried I'm going to feed you the soup that I've cooked my father into, don't be. I'll be saving it all for Old Boy.

Thank you, Theodore. This is just happening a bit sooner than I anticipated and I would like to be prepared.

Oh, and I wasn't gone this morning. I was looking for something in the cellar. I'm sorry that I missed you, but I can show you what I've found when you come back this evening. You know, before Pucey shows up.

Yes, alright, I'll be back soon, you'll have to let me know what you've found. Well, I'll hopefully be back before Pucey arrives, at any rate. I do believe I've seen more of him these past few weeks than I did for my whole time at school with him.

I've found you something to wear on hallowe'en. It's not too flash or silly. I think you'll like it.

I don't think I saw Pucey at school at all. I didn't leave the dormitory if I could help it, and I didn't leave the common room unless it was absolutely required. I was quite resentful I had to be there at all, as you probably remember. Back then Pucey was just another one of those loud quidditch players who thought he owned the place, but perhaps he's finally decided to make something of a change, now.

I'm not stilling my quill because I know he loves to see people talking about him.

Tracey, I'd like you to meet with me regarding your financial planning. There are ways to secure your assets against any meddling by your father.

Also, just how much is needed to keep the knife wielding Goblin away? I think something can be arranged to get that off of your plate. Is Old Boy a Gringotts employee? Or is he more of a free-agent type? If he is of the former, let me assure you that I will be in contact with the correct people.

Is was Gran's assests he gambled away. I would have her meet with you but she is very suspicious and wary when it comes to discussing money. I suppose that really only leaves me to put things in order.

Oh, Old Boy doesn't wield the knife anymore. He's become a friend of Gran's and even offered to put some of his own money against Dodger's debts as an apology for cutting me. No one really know's where he comes from, though.

I really only continue to pay off Dodger's debts in order to erase the damage that Dodger has done to Davis name. I want to keep business coming through the back door, after all.

As long as you are sure. I don't take kindly to my friends being menaced. I would assume that Theodore feels the same, especially involving you. Occasionally we both have moments of chivalry. His mother is probably responsible for drilling that into us. Merlin knows it wasn't my mum.

So, do stop by my office at your convenience, and we will see what can be done to protect you and your grandmother. As I mentioned there might be some ways for the debt to be paid in full. We will discuss those options too.

You have both always been very good to enquire after my well being. Who knows where things like chivalry come from; I never had anyone to teach me to be lady-like and yet I managed well enough by following others' examples.

I will stop by, thank you. I admit I don't have much of a mind for money. I prefer not to bother with it if I can help it, as you know.

You've always been able to handle yourself, even without extensive skills in hexing. You shouldn't worry.

Oh well look who's here. Not here at Sybaris, but here in my book. Hello ducks, I've had quite a lot to drink. I think I could be quite skilled at hexing at the moment I feel extra magicky and dangerous.

You should probably be careful with the hexing if you're drunk! We certainly wouldn't want you to flick your wand the wrong way and end up cursing those whose company you keep. Certainly not.

I know this probably isn't a good time to ask, but can we tal

Oh Malcolm don't you know a joke when you see one I'm not going to hex anyone at Sybaris. Why, were you hoping that I would? Your dear sister is sitting quite near to me, I've noticed she always sits quite near to me do you think she shares your deviation?
