I've found it impossible to get any work done while Dodger is in the house. It's a constant rabble of drinking, card games, and laughter these days -- not to mention the odd smells and occasional, mysterious crashes. Poor Zombi II has retreated to the rafters of the attic, and I sense his nerves are shaken because he's become awfully thin. If ( Read more... )

Do you want to get married, Tracey?

What, to you?

Oh, no! No, not me. I don't think that would work out very well, considering.

I mean, do you want to get married to anyone ever? I suppose I just don't see you as the marrying type, is all.

That's interesting, seeing as everyone else does. Why do you not see me as the marrying type?

How are you finding your office? I shall find it very strange myself not to see you around when popping by, not that I have much cause to do that anymore, I suppose.

And I am enjoying myself, actually. I've been charming the piano and it's been most pleasant. Do come round when you have the time, I can offer you dinner here, perhaps.

And I don't intend to let anyone take advantage of me. Though Dodger still apparently is keen to make use of me, as he is sending the occasional owl or two.

You could pop by my new office now and again. If you wanted to, that is. I could still very much use your services.

Thank you for the offer, Theodore. I should like to hear your piano sometime. Perhaps Blaise would like to play for us and we three can make a night of it.

I regret to hear that Dodger is keeping in contact with you. I shall speak to him at once about it, at your request.

Oh, well, in that case, I shall certainly swing by. Wouldn't want to cease our business agreement now that I am no longer living in the same place. And I confess, I do miss seeing you miss having something to do. Wouldn't do to get complacent either.

Any time you would like to hear the piano, you are always welcome.

You needn't ask Dodger to cease the letters. It's flattering in a way that he does not take me for useless as he seemed to do when we first met. He's not being embarrassing if that's what you are inferring.

Leisure and independence suits you, Theodore, but you have many admirable skills that ought not go to waste. Or so I've come to feel, anyway though I actually have always admir. I believe that Virginia will want something done regarding her platinum chalice. I'll discuss options with her and then let you know what she's decided?

It sounds as if Dodger is up to something would like to strike up a genuine acquaintance with you, then. I'm not surprised at all to hear that he doesn't think you useless as you're not a woman, after all -- Dodger finds a use for nearly everyone, and has an eye for those with exceptional qualifications. I trust that you'll be on guard, but if you don't object to correspondence I'll not say anything to him.

I'm very glad you've found an acceptable compromise regarding work. I can't say I was looking forward to meeting Dodger in the course of doing business with you, not that the prospect would have stopped me.

Hm. A successful quidditch player with a highly effective publicist... to think you might have missed out on a chance to be asked if you were available for marriage.

Dodging marriage proposals isn't hard so long as you've not compromised the daughter too badly.

Didn't we have an affair while you were dating Padma? I don't know who compromised who, in that situation, but I doubt it would matter much to Dodger so long as your Gringott's account was sizeable.

I aim to please, Tracey. Let me know if you need the money tied up any tighter.

That remains to be seen, but knowing Dodger, it probably will.
