Things haven't gone so well. The numbness continues to work its way through my arm, and seems to weaken my mind, as well. The other day I actually entertained thoughts of what it would be like to be Old Boy's bride. Terrible thoughts they were, but I even went so far as asking Blaise if Cynthia would like to be my bridesmaid. It's not like me ( Read more... )

Mysterious Miss Tracey. I reckon it's useless asking what it was you and Malfoy hatched that put Dodger on his guard.

It was nothing that we hatched, I simply tried a different tune. I told Old Boy that I would prefer to have time to learn to love him properly before we were married, and saw from the expression on his simpleton face that he had been lead to believe I already felt this way. You'd think all my screaming when he put the ring on my finger would have alerted him to my feelings on the matter, but it seems not.

But if I can make Old Boy uncertain of the plan he's been roped into, perhaps I have a chance.

I saw Dodger a few hours ago. He was here, in Knockturn Alley, and he was asking me if I had put you up to anything lately. I wondered what had gone on for him to suddenly act so threatening. Well, for him to try and act in a threatening manner, at any rate.

He soon lost interest and began wittering on about something or other Old Boy is going to do next week. I believe it's something that's supposed to fund your wedding ceremony. Disgusting creature...

You will never put on that dress. Blaise and I will see to that. We've been talking and we think we might have an idea.

I made Old Boy's devotion to Dodger wobble a bit the other night, and that's why he's concerned. Dodger is bent on seeing this plan to the end, and it was Draco who showed me that.

I am glad to hear that you and Blaise may have an idea, as I'm coming up rather short on ideas, myself.

Perhaps now that you are aware of his motivations to some extent, it might help you to concoct some ways of getting around him.

In any case, us chaps have a sort of last-ditch sort of plan, in case all else fails and whatnot.

Are you alright, at any rate? I've not been home since you went to see Draco, obviously, and, well, I'm worried about you.

Oh, I'm sorry. I went to my office to see if anyone had come by. There was only Virginia, Mr Angel's sister, who wanted to thank me for recovering her platinum chalice. We spoke for a time, and she expressed her sympathies. After that I lingered to do a bit of thinking. It occured to me that each time I cross the threshold to Borgin and Burkes and climb the stairs to my office, I come close to passing over the very spot where mother was found. I'd never given it much thought before, but now I think that I should have.

I am disgusted by your father's behaviour, Tracey, but don't you worry. As Nott mentioned, we have a last ditch plan, and will hopefully soon have a more proactive one.

Cynthia has a stack of bridal magazines and is busily looking for dresses that can be made in red for you to celebrate not getting married. At least married to that creature.

I'm not disgusted by him. He is who he is, father or not. I see that now.

That's very kind of Cynthia. I look much better in red than in white.
